Historically, the architectural model has demonstrated a remarkable persistence as both a practical tool and a symbolic object. In this dual capacity, models act not only as proxies for unbuilt structures but also as independent objects of inquiry, laden with intentionality and meaning. When subjected to the photographic lens, the ontology of the model undergoes a profound transformation. The resulting image—the “model photograph”—detaches the model from its tangible materiality, reframing it within a two-dimensional, representational plane. This act of transposition alters its semiotic function: the photograph no longer serves the model’s primary role as a spatial abstraction but instead becomes an artifact in its own right, a document that recontextualizes the model within a new interpretive framework.
